Rock-to-Rock Earth Day Ride

April 28, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 2:00 pm

The 10th Annual Rock-to-Rock Earth Day Ride is an opportunity to support both Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen AND efforts to preserve our environment, fight climate change, and promote a healthier planet for all!

What is the Rock-to-Rock Earth Day Ride?

Every year, charitable organizations around New Haven participate in an April bicycle-riding event designed to raise money for the participating nonprofits (like DESK!) and their efforts to support sustainable and environmental-friendly practices (like composting organics, recycling, energy efficiency, etc.).  Riders who register can choose from one of five routes (depending how much of a challenge you’d like).  It’s not a race, but rather just a chance to get some fresh air and raise awareness.  Each rider can join a team — like the DESK Souper Heroes! — any any funds that rider raises goes toward the team’s overall goal in support of the benefiting agency (in our case, DESK).

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Grab a few friends and sign up for the DESK Souper Heroes!  There are five different rides, from the leisurely 5-miler to the much more intense 62-miler.  Once you’re registered, start getting pledges.  Here are some tips on how to do that.    Don’t delay; register today!
  2. Make a donation toward the team-goal of the DESK Souper Heroes and support our efforts to start composting our food waste here at DESK.
  3. Spread the word!  Each time you share DESK’s team page on social media, you give others the opportunity to contribute and make a difference, too!  Don’t be modest: doing-good encourages others to do-good.  And feel free to share our flyer!
